Worker killed, man arrested in apartment shooting near Gwinnett college

Police have located a suspect after a deadly shooting near Georgia Gwinnett College on Thursday morning prompted a manhunt and lockdown at the school’s Lawrenceville campus.

Roceam Jarez Wilson, 26, was taken into custody after an initial search of the area around the college came up empty, according to Gwinnett County police. He was arrested on charges of murder, aggravated assault and weapon possession in the shooting that killed 23-year-old Bradley Jordan at the Sugar Mills Apartments on Walther Boulevard.

“Detectives believe that Jordan was at the location for his job as a pest control worker when he was approached by Wilson outside of one of the apartments,” Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Collin Flynn said in a news release. “At this time, a motive for the murder is not clear.”

Wilson, who is homeless, was “quickly identified by detectives who followed up on evidence at the scene,” Flynn said.

Jordan was found dead at the apartment complex shortly after 10 a.m. Officers were called to investigate after someone heard a gunshot and saw the Lawrenceville man lying at the bottom of a stairwell, Flynn said.
