ONEIDA CASTLE A 22-year-old man from Canandaigua has been charged with the murder of Tyler A. McBain on Tuesday, according to law enforcement reports.

Meanwhile, a candlelight vigil was held on McBains behalf Wednesday night. A GoFundMe.com fundraiser page has been established for his family. He is survived by a 1-year-old child, along with a girlfriend and her child.

Travon D. Golden of Canandaigua in Ontario County, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder, according to the state police. Based on the law, another crime was underway when McBain was killed. Golden is currently in the Oneida County Jail.

The search remains ongoing for the second person involved in McBains murder. State police have not released whether Golden was the killer or an accomplice.

The identity of the second person has also not yet been released by the authorities.

State police said McBain was killed in his upstairs apartment at 91 Seneca Ave. in Oneida Castle at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Based on the autopsy, troopers said McBain was shot once in the upper torso.

A downstairs neighbor heard a commotion and saw a man fleeing the residence, troopers said. The man climbed into an SUV waiting in the driveway and fled westbound on the Thruway.

According to state police, the driver refused to pull over and eventually crashed in the Town of Junius. Golden was taken into custody at the scene, while authorities said the other man fled into the woods. A manhunt began through the woods Tuesday evening, but it was unsuccessful. State police said Golden was brought to the Troop D headquarters in Oneida, where he was charged early Wednesday morning.
