Arrest made in 2016 murder of Indianapolis woman
5:11 PM, Apr 29, 2018

INDIANAPOLIS -- Nearly a year and a half after an Indianapolis woman was found dead inside a home on the city's north side, a man has been arrested and charged with her murder.

Lawon Browning, 25, was arrested Saturday evening in connection with the death of Jessica Whitehouse.

The 30-year-old was found dead inside a home
in the 4300 block of Norwaldo Avenue on November 2, 2016.

Whitehouse's car, a 1994 greenish-blue Crown Victoria, had been taken from the scene and found later in the area.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said investigators were able to connect Browning to the murder through witness statements, phone records and DNA analysis.

80-year sentence handed down in 2016 murder

Updated: Oct 4th, 2019 - 3:16am (EDT)

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) An Indianapolis man will spend 80 years in prison for his conviction in a November 2016 homicide.

Lawon Browning
was sentenced Wednesday. A jury found him guilty in July.

Jessica Whitehouse, 30, was shot and killed in early November 2016 inside her home in the 4300 block of North Norwaldo Avenue, a neighborhood just north of the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Her boyfriend found her, but police didn't immediately find the killer.

For more than a year, Jessie's family had been hanging flyers and raising reward money to solve the case.

Investigators used DNA from under the victim's fingernails and cell phone records to track down Browning nearly two years after the killing.
