1 dead, several injured in separate shootings over 5 hours
By Ruth Weissmann
July 5, 2019 | 11:05am

A man was shot dead in the Bronx, and four people were injured in Brooklyn when a gunman opened fire early Friday morning — among six shootings in a bloody five-hour span in the Big Apple overnight, police said.

The four were injured after someone opened fire on Elton Street near Sutter Avenue in East New York just after midnight.

Among the injured were a 30-year-old man who was shot in the chest and a 25-year-old woman was shot in the shoulder, cops said.

Both were taken to Brookdale Medical Center, where they were listed in stable condition.

Another man was shot in the lower back and arrived at Brookdale on his own, officials said.

A fourth man, 28, was taken to Jamaica Hospital with a gunshot wound to his neck.

A person of interest is in custody at the 75th precinct, although no arrests have been made.

An hour later, at 1:14 a.m., police discovered a 40-year-old man in the basement of a house on Crotona Avenue near E. 187th St. in the Bronx, officials said. He had been shot in the torso.

Emergency responders rushed the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, but he could not be saved.

The suspect fled the scene by the time police had shown up, authorities said.

Just a few hours later, at about 3:30 a.m. in Crown Heights, a 37-year-old man was shot in the torso while sitting inside his Nissan Maxima, police said.

After being shot, he attempted to drive himself to the hospital — but sped too fast around a corner and his car flipped over.

Meanwhile, his shooter fled the scene and is still on the loose, police said.

Around 4 a.m. in front of a house on Hoe Avenue near E. 172 St in the Bronx, a 20-year-old man was shot in the head and leg, police said.

He was rushed to St. Barnabas in critical condition, and cops are still searching for his attacker.

Less than an hour later, two more 20-year-old men were shot in separate incidents — one in the abdomen near W. 123 Street and 7th Avenue in Harlem and the other in the calf on Grant Avenue near E. 165th St. in Morrisania, police said.

The first was taken to Harlem Hospital and the second to Lincoln Medical Center. Both are expected to survive, according to cops.

2 elderly women struck by stray bullets in separate overnight incidents
By Stephanie Pagones
July 13, 2019 | 9:23am

Two elderly women were hit by stray bullets in separate incidents in Queens and Manhattan, police said Saturday.

A 76-year-old woman was sitting in her parked car near the corner of Guy R. Brewer Boulevard and Foch Boulevard in South Jamaica around 10:35 p.m. Friday when she was struck through the passenger side window. The shot hit her in the back of the neck, police said.

Investigators determined a man squaring off with a rival nearby had fired off the round, which hit the septuagenarian.

The unintended victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she is in stable condition.

Police provided video footage of their suspect.

Just two hours later in East Harlem, a 67-year-old suffered nearly the same fate.

The woman was walking through the lobby of the New York City Housing Authority’s Washington Houses on East 102nd Street around 12:40 a.m. while two men, both 29, were arguing, cops said.

As the quarrel escalated, one man pulled out a gun and shot the other, hitting his intended target in the chest — and also striking the elderly woman in the leg.

Both victims were taken to Metropolitan Hospital Center, where the man was listed in critical condition. Police said the woman’s injuries were not life-threatening.

The gunmen in both incidents are still on the loose.

Two teens busted for granny hit by stray bullet charged as adults
By Anabel Sosa
July 15, 2019 | 5:10pm

A pair of teens were busted for the stray bullet shooting of an elderly woman in a parked car — and they are both charged as adults, cops said Monday.

A 76-year-old victim was near the corner of Guy R. Brewer Boulevard and Foch Boulevard in South Jamaica around 10:35 p.m. Friday, July 12 when she was struck through the passenger side window. The shot hit her in the back of the neck, police said.

Police said the 16-year-old handed the 14-year-old the firearm, who then shot the weapon in the direction of the woman.

The older suspect was arrested Saturday at 3:35 p.m., cops said.

The younger suspect turned himself in Monday morning, just after midnight, with his parents by his side, after the heightened media attention surrounding the incident, according to police.

The 14-year-old is being charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, whereas, the 16-year-old is only being charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The unintended victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital, in stable condition, and has since been released, police said.

Police are investigating this as a potentially gang-related incident.
