Men swiped keys from St. Paul woman’s walker at Walmart then stole her car and burglarized her apartment, charges say

UPDATED: July 9, 2019 at 9:37 pm

Two men stole keys from a 72-year-old woman inside a St. Paul Walmart last week and took off in her vehicle, according to criminal charges.

It didn’t stop there. The two drove the stolen vehicle to her apartment, and were rummaging around inside when a St. Paul police officer who escorted the woman home opened the door to her unit, according to St. Paul police officer Tom Reis.

Startled, one of the men jumped out the third-floor apartment’s window and landed on concrete below before taking off on foot. The second, Joseph Smith, 30, was found hiding in the woman’s bathroom and was arrested, Reis said.

The Ramsey County attorney’s office charged Smith with second-degree burglary and two counts of theft, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.

The second individual hasn’t been located.

Wake County mom says man stole car with her daughter inside as she helped crash victim

Friday, July 19, 2019 1:37PM
WENDELL, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Wake County mom is thankful for help from strangers after a thief drove off with her vehicle with her child inside Wednesday night.

"I was just trying to help somebody and I became a victim myself," Tasha Dillard said. "I feel like it was a scene out of a movie. I still feel like I'm in a dream."

But it was real. Dillard and her daughter were headed home to Wendell when she saw a truck flipped over on the side I-87 near Hodges Road.

Dillard said one of the victims was already out of the truck. She attempted to rescue the other person trapped inside.

"In the corner of my eye, I see my car door open so I immediately turn around...I run toward my car," Dillard said. "He got in the car. I grabbed the doorknob. I was shaking it like, 'no my daughter is in the car. My daughter is in the car.' He just took off down the highway. I chased the car until I passed out because I was running so hard. I was like 'no!'"

The suspect, identified by Raleigh Police as Toney Bridges, 47, escaped the couple's pursuit, ditching the car in a neighborhood near Walmart.

Police said Bridges fled to Knightdale, parked the car and fled on foot.

Dillard found her daughter and vehicle. Both were unharmed.

Surveillance footage of the Target knife and electronics thief

A man swiped a knife from a Manhattan Target store — and then used it to threaten customers as he fled, police said Monday.

The crook was at the East 14th Street location near Avenue A in Alphabet City at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday when he grabbed a kitchen knife along with a computer keyboard and mouse, police said.

When he tried to run off with the stolen goods, a store loss-prevention worker blocked his path and the two began arguing.

That’s when the thief ripped off the packaging and brandished the knife, police said, pulling it on the employee and threatening nearby customers.

He then beat a path out of the store with the knife and electronics in tow, officials said. No arrests have been made, and no one was injured in the clash.

Police describe the man as bald and in his mid 40s. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, white shorts and white sneakers.

Help ID suspects seen flashing sinister smiles seconds after stealing store worker’s wallet

Posted 5:43 PM, July 26, 2019

WANTED IN THURSTON COUNTY —
Check out the sinister smiles these two crooks are sharing just seconds after Thurston County deputies say they stole a worker’s wallet from an employee-only area at the WinCo Foods store in Lacey in late May.

The victim, Patrick Carnahan, doesn’t work there anymore. He just graduated from school and says like many students, he’s struggling to get by. He’s had to buy a new wallet and cell phone after the two crooks took advantage of his faith in his fellow-man. “When I was working there I felt pretty at-ease. I was thinking, ‘Well, ok. Nothing big, crazy going on here.’ And, now I just can`t be as trusting. I kept the things in my bag, because I was thinking, ‘Oh! It`s kind of uncomfortable in my pockets.’ I was working the carts at that time, so I was like, ‘Ugh, I don`t want to have stuff in my pockets. It`s uncomfortable. I could break it. I could sweat. It could mess it up,’” said Carnahan.

Deputies say in all, the suspects used Patrick's stolen credit card at several businesses to buy more than $1,000 in gift cards.

Authorities: Amazon Delivery Driver Stole Couple’s Dog In Parker County, Tried To Sell It Online
July 30, 2019 at 7:26 am

WEATHERFORD, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – An Amazon delivery driver was arrested after she allegedly stole a couple’s dog in front of their Weatherford home and tried to sell it online, authorities said.

The Parker County Sheriff’s Office said that Mycah Keyona Wade, 22, was charged with theft after being accused of taking the dog while making deliveries on July 5.

According to the sheriff’s office, the 2-year-old dachshund ran out of the house and across the front yard when its owners opened a door. This is when Wade apparently stole the dog.

Surveillance video in the neighborhood helped lead authorities to believing Wade was the suspect who had taken the dog.

During the investigation, it was found that Wade put the dog up for sale on Craigslist for $100, the Cleburne-Times Review reported. An investigator told the paper that the ad changed when he made contact with the suspect.

Wade eventually turned herself in on July 16 after an arrest warrant was issued. She also turned the dachshund over to investigators.

The 22-year-old was later released on a $2,000 bond. She has since been fired as a delivery driver for Amazon.
