Man in custody for resisting arrest after deadly Tampa bus stabbing
Justin Ryan McGriff is in jail but has not been charged in relation to the stabbing.

TAMPA, Fla. — Police arrested and charged a man Saturday for resisting arrest following the deadly stabbing of a HART bus driver.

Justin Ryan McGriff, 35
, was placed in police custody because he fit the description given to officers after the stabbing, Tampa police said.

A passenger on the HART bus reportedly stabbed the driver just after 4 p.m. Saturday near Nebraska Avenue and Locust Street. The suspect ran off the bus and toward Interstate 275, where police found him based on a witness' description.

McGriff has not been charged in relation to the stabbing.

Police said they do not yet have a motive for the killing, and they are continuing their investigation.

TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - A HART passenger is being charged with one count of murder after police say he stabbed a driver to death, Saturday afternoon.

While Tampa police have not yet identifed the victim officially, Michael Dunn identified his brother, Thomas Dunn as the HART bus driver stabbed. Michael said his brother had been driving for HART for about 3 years.


We asked Michael Dunn if he or anyone from his family would speak about the incident and he said, “We can't at this time. We appreciate the sentiment and support from the community, but are not prepared to speak publicly.”
