Default Buck negro, mudshark found deaf in apparent murder-suicide in Jupiter

Husband, wife found dead in apparent murder-suicide in Jupiter

Jupiter police have identified the two people found dead inside a condo in Villas on the Green off U.S. Highway 1 Wednesday night.

The bodies of 49-year-old Arthur F. Horlbeck and his wife, 57-year-old Edana R. Chokey, were found after a standoff, according to police. During the initial investigation, police obtained information that the shooting suspect barricaded himself within his residence. After several hours of unsuccessfully trying to get in contact with the suspect, the SWAT team entered the condo, where they found Horlbeck and Chokey.

Based on the still ongoing investigation, this appears to be a murder-suicide carried out by Horlbeck.

This is an active investigation.

Horlbeck has been in trouble with the law and the condo association in the past.

He was arrested by Jupiter police on Dec. 28, 2017 when he reportedly pulled a man out of his car in the Villas on the Green community, then started punching and kicking him, according to an arrest report. The victim told police that Horlbeck approached him, asked him some bizarre questions, then spit on his face. Witnesses said they told Horlbeck repeatedly to stop and when he did, he got into his car and drove to his condo.

Horlbreck later pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor of simple battery.

Horlbreck also threatened the mayor of Jupiter in a Facebook post, CBS12 News has learned. He did not mention Mayor Todd Wodraska by name, but did write something to the effect of "I'm going to meet the Jupiter mayor and if I don't get answers I will kill him," the mayor confirmed to CBS12 News. According to the mayor, the Jupiter police department took the threat seriously, even giving his family extra security.

Court documents also show the Horlbecks were sued by the condo association in February 2018 for not paying $3,385 worth of fees.
