Default Mini-Mandingo Questioned In Shooting Deff Mudshark Aliquippa, PA Teacher

Search warrant reveals details in Aliquippa teacher's slaying

Aliquippa police this week seized the cell phone of a man who was at times romantically involved with a 33-year-old teacher killed Sunday — the same man who, as a teenager, was found in a parked car with the woman at 2 a.m. on a dead-end street.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the phone of Sheldon Jeter Jr., now 20, on Monday, the day after Rachael DelTondo was killed in her driveway at the 2100 block of Buchanan Street.

Ms. DelTondo was an elementary school teacher at The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School for nine years, until allegations surfaced in October that she’d had inappropriate contact with Mr. Jeter in February 2016, when he was 17 years old and officers found them together in the car. No criminal charges were ever filed against her.

Attorney Michael Santicola, who represented Mr. Jeter after the 2016 incident and is also representing him now, said that Mr. Jeter had nothing to do with Ms. DelTondo’s death.

“I can tell you he has alibis,” Mr. Santicola said. “He was not alone. And many many people can verify it. We are hoping the cell phone records are looked at properly and quickly to exonerate him.”

The search warrant reveals a loose timeline of the night Ms. DelTondo was killed — she spent the evening hanging out with friends, including the daughter of Aliquippa police Sgt. Kenneth Watkins, who has since been placed on paid leave to preserve the integrity of the investigation and so he can grieve with his family.

Sgt. Watkins’ daughter, Lauren Watkins, who is a minor, picked up Ms. DelTondo at about 8 p.m. Sunday and the pair drove to a Circle K gas station 2105 Sheffield Avenue before heading over to the house of a friend, Chris Jones, in Hopewell Township, according to the search warrant.

At about 9:20 p.m., Ms. Watkins and Ms. DelTondo left the friend’s house and returned to Ms. DelTondo’s home on Buchanan Street, where Ms. DelTondo changed clothes. A few minutes later, the two friends picked up Tyrie Jeter -- Sheldon Jeter’s older brother -- and went to get ice cream at Hank’s Frozen Custard in New Brighton.

While there, Sheldon Jeter texted Tyrie Jeter asking if the group was ‘there already,’ and Tyrie responded that they were. Sheldon then texted “I got left huh,” followed by six smiley faces, according to the search warrant.

Sheldon then asked Tyrie Jeter who was with him, and Tyrie Jeter did not respond, according to the warrant. At 10:30 p.m., Sheldon texted Tyrie that the ice cream shop was closed.

At 10:44 p.m., Ms. Watkins dropped Ms. DelTondo off at her house and drove Tyrie Jeter home, according to the search warrant. Tyrie told police that Ms. Watkins told Ms. DelTondo that “she would be back.”

Ms. DelTondo was shot to death four minutes later, according to the search warrant, which cites a 911 call for shots fired at that time.

2nd Person Questioned In Rachael DelTondo Murder Case
May 17, 2018 at 1:50 pm

ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) – Police have questioned a second individual in connection with the murder of Rachael DelTondo in Aliquippa.

KDKA Investigator Andy Sheehan has learned that police investigators have questioned 20-year-old Sheldon Jeter, who is a friend of DelTondo.

The 33-year-old was shot and killed in her mother’s driveway Sunday night.

Sheehan says police questioned Jeter at his home on Monday, and also executed a search warrant in which they took his cellphone. Police had already seized DelTondo’s phone for forensic analysis.

Jeter’s attorney, Michael Santicola, says his client told police he had nothing to do with DelTondo’s murder.

According to Santicola, Jeter and DelTondo have had an on-again, off-again romantic relationship for several years and have remained friends.

The relationship first came to the attention of police in February 2016, when an incident report indicates police found the then-17-year-old Jeter and DelTondo in a parked car on the grounds of the old Aliquippa Hospital.

At the time, DelTondo told police that she had been Jeter’s teacher and was simply counseling him. Jeter was a basketball and football star at Aliquippa High School.

No charges were ever filed, but DelTondo was suspended with pay from her job as a teacher at PACyber Charter School in the fall of 2017. A police report about the parking lot encounter was leaked from the Aliquippa Police Department in what Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier has called a “personal vendetta.”

Lozier has not elaborated on who might have had this “vendetta” against DelTondo with motive to leak the report.

Santicola told Sheehan that his client had “no animosity” toward DelTondo and therefore “no motive” to kill her.

DelTondo’s former fiancé has also denied any involvement in her death, and has offered an alibi for the night of the murder that his attorney says police appear to be satisfied with.

In another development, Santicola says his client told him he believed DelTondo was about to testify before a grand jury investigating possible corruption in Aliquippa.
