Default Buck in dispute with ex-mudshark sets nest on fire, 3 kids dead; to get deff penalty?

Triple homicide suspect will learn today if prosecutors will seek the death penalty
Published: January 5, 2018

WILKES-BARRE — When triple homicide suspect Preston Daquen Bonnett walks into the courtroom today, he will learn whether Luzerne County prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty if he is convicted of killing three children.

Bonnett, 27, is facing three counts each of arson and criminal homicide over the Oct. 25 fire at 60 Oakwood Drive, Laflin, that claimed the lives of brothers Erik Dupree, 16, Devon Major, 12, and Ezekiel Major, 7. Prosecutors allege Bonnett set fire to the family’s home because of an ongoing dispute he had with their mother, his ex-girlfriend Susan Major, 48.

The charges against Bonnett allege he had been staying at 60 Oakwood Drive in June when homeowner Susan M. Major, the children’s mother, kicked him out.

Major had allowed a woman, Tyla Marie Griffin, 28, of Wilkes-Barre, to stay at her home, but then without permission Griffin brought Bonnett to the house, the charges allege.

Court records indicate Major, 48, met Bonnett through a personal advertisement on Craigslist back in 2015. That July, Major and Bonnett were hit with access device fraud charges alleging they used fraudulent debit cards to buy gift cards and other items.

Major told Kingston police they had been going around twice a week since March or April 2015, with Major buying things using fraudulent cards Bonnett gave her.

The boys died after a fire at the family home in Laflin in October.
