August 3, 2017 in Cove City, North Carolina. Gunman black. Two skanks also arrested as accomplices. One looks Latina. One looks like a dude. Has short hair. Possibly white.

Third person charged in deadly attempted robbery in Craven County

CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WITN) - A third person has now been charged in a deadly attempted robbery that happened last week in Craven County.

Johnson / Leal / Velez

Ashley Velez, of Cove City, was arrested Friday on a charge of accessory after the fact.
Velez, along with Anthony Johnson and Brittany Leal, appeared before a judge this morning in New Bern.
Johnson is charged with murder, while Leal is charged with attempted armed robbery.
Killed at Grady's Old Country Store on Old Highway 70 in Cove City was Scottie Morton.
An arrest warrant says Velez helped Johnson avoid arrest after the attempted robbery and shooting, "providing aid and shelter for the defendant".
Court documents also say Leal tried to take $5,000 in cash from the business.
The judge ordered Johnson to continue to be held without bond, and kept Leal's bond at $500,000 and Velez's bond at $100,000.
All three were given court appointed attorneys and given August 22nd as their next court date.

COVE CITY, N.C. — The Craven County Sheriff’s Office says a third person has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting at convenience store.

Deputies announced the arrest of 26-year Ashley Velez on August 7th. Velez faces charges for Accessory aft the Fact of a Felony. The 26-year-old was taken to the Craven County Detention Center and given a $100,00 bond.

The Craven County Sheriff’s Office previously arrested two other suspects on August 4th.
Anthony Johnson, 21, has been charged with the murder of Scottie Alan Morton, and Brittany Leal, 28, has been charged with a attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. Both Johnson and Leal are from Fayetteville, and the Morton is from Cove City.

The Craven County Sheriff’s Office responded to Grady’s Old Country Store at 10805 Hwy 70 West in Cove City around 5:30 p.m. in response to a shooting.
When they arrived, they found Morton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses told deputies they saw a black man with his face covered enter the store, demand money and shoot Morton several times.
After the shooting, deputies said the suspect fled the store to an awaiting dark red SUV and fled the area.
Morton died on the scene, deputies said.

The Sheriff’s Office said they identified Johnson and Leal as suspects and found them at a resident near the Wintergreen Road area of Cove City.
They arrested Leal at the time, but Johnson fled into the woods, deputies said.
A manhunt ensued, and officers from the Craven County Sheriff’s Office and SRT along with New Bern Police K-9 units, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit and manpower, North Carolina Highway Patrol, SHP Helicopter, and U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter assisted in the search for Johnson.

He was caught near Dover Road in Craven County at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning.
The investigation has just begun, and the Sheriff’s Office said more arrests and charges are expected.
HCPD charge 3 in connection with armed robbery - Sep 30, 2008
CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police have charged three individuals suspected in an armed robbery early Monday morning at a Myrtle Beach strip club.
According to police, officers were called to Thee Dollhouse Gentlemen's Club, 9719 N. Kings Hwy., around 2 a.m. in reference to an armed robbery. Investigators said two victims were held at gunpoint in the parking lot.
According to police reports, while officers were headed to the call, a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle was seen and stopped. Three people were taken into police custody.
On Tuesday morning, the three individuals were charged.

Willie James Hamlet, 20, of Fayetteville, NC, faces two counts of armed robbery, two counts of assault and battery with intent to kill, giving false information to law enforcement, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, two counts of obliterating a serial number on a gun, and receiving stolen guns.

Brittany Nicole Leal, 19, of Fayetteville, NC, is charged with two counts of assault and battery with intent to kill, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, two counts of obliterating a serial number on a gun, and receiving stolen goods.

Jessica Michelle Leal, 19, of Hope Mills, NC, faces two counts of armed robbery, two counts of assault and battery with intent to kill, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, sale or delivery of a pistol, two counts of possession by certain persons unlawful, and receiving stolen goods.
