Watch: Standoff with man accused of assaulting mother ends when he falls out window

Dallas SWAT officers arrested an armed suspect six hours after he barricaded himself in a Lake Highlands house following an altercation with his mother, police said.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jeffrey Miller, was later booked into the Dallas County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers initially responded about 9:50 p.m. Monday to a family violence disturbance call in the 12400 block of Hallum Street, near TI Boulevard and south of Interstate 635.

Miller, who had a knife, barricaded himself inside a house, police said.

SWAT officers later set off flash bang devices and multiple rounds of tear gas canisters. Over a speaker system, an officer spoke to Miller.

"Come on outside. ... There you go," the officer said, as Miller crawled through window, plummeting into bushes below. "Good job. Lay on the ground. Lay down."
