APPLING, GA (WFXG) -

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office says the man suspected of killing five others in two shootings in Appling is dead. Tactical teams went into the Rosemont Road home of 50-year-old Wayne Anthony Hawes just after midnight. They found Hawes dead in a garage. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

Hawes is accused of carrying out 2 shootings earlier in the evening. The Columbia County Sheriff's Office has identified the victims:

Roosevelt Burns, 75
Rheba Mae Dent, 85
Kelia Clark, 31
Lizzy Williams, 59
Shelly Williams, 62

The sheriff's office confirms three of the victims were shot outside a home along Johnson Drive. Two of them died at the scene. The third died at the hospital. The other two victims died in another shooting on Rosemont Road. The two streets are very close to each other along Washington Road.

Investigators say the shootings are the result of a domestic dispute, but they have not revealed how the suspect and victims know each other.

Family members tell FOX 54 that Hawes had just learned his wife was filing for divorce. Family identified Dent, Burns and Clark as being related to Hawes' wife. The family had gathered at the Johnson Drive home to prepare for the funeral of another family member this weekend. There's still no word on how Hawes knew Lizzy Williams and Shelly Williams.
