Lakers Nick Young, Jordan Clarkson Accused Of Making Vulgar Gestures To Women At Red Light
March 21, 2016 6:17 PM

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles Lakers Nick Young and Jordan Clarkson were accused Monday of making vulgar gestures at two women in the Hollywood area Sunday night.

Alexis Jones, an activist working to curb abuses by athletes, said a Jeep with four men pulled up next to her and her mom at a red light at La Brea Avenue and Melrose Avenue and “started yelling and making the most disgustingly vulgar gestures” in their direction, according to an account of the events she posted on Instagram.

“I rarely ‘rant’ about things but this is the f%+#ing problem and the reason I’ve now dedicated my life to educating young men about respect, not just for women but for everyone,” she said in the Instagram post. “I’m angry. I’m insulted. I’m hurt. They were laughing hysterically until they realized I was filming them and immediately they panicked like the cowards they are.”

Jones asked her Instagram followers to help her identify the men in the Instagram photo. Her followers quickly pointed out that they appeared to be Clarkson and Young.

Jones co-founded nonprofit I Am That Girl and told ESPN that just a few days ago she was having discussions with NBA officials about enacting a program called ProtectHer to address sexual abuse by athletes.

Jones told ESPN that she received a call ataround 8:30 a.m. Monday from Lakers John Black, who she said apologized on behalf of the Lakers.

Black told ESPN the Lakers take the allegations “very seriously” and that the organization was looking further into the claims. He also said Lakers head coach Byron Scott was aware of the situation and was addressing it with the two players.

The players had not publicly addressed the accusations on Monday night.
