Garry C. James, 53, no permanent address, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Michelle C. Kinney, of 1373 Iowa St., No. 1, according to a press release issued Monday by the Dubuque Police Department. James has been in police custody since Saturday on an unrelated charge. He was charged with murder on Monday at the Dubuque County Jail. The release said Dubuque police were called to 1373 Iowa St., No. 1, at 1:45 a.m. Monday to investigate a report of a dead body. The body later was identified as Kinney. “Kinney suffered puncture wounds to her body,” the release said. “The official cause and method of death is yet to be determined by the State Medical Examiner.” Police Lt. Joe Messerich said police were called to the residence by acquaintances who discovered Kinney. Traffic camera footage showed Kinney walking to her home with a man Saturday night, the release said. The man later left Kinney’s residence and walked to Next Phase, 1902 Central Ave. The man, who police said they later identified as James, was arrested at the bar at 10:52 p.m. on charges of first-degree harassment, unlawful possession of prescription drugs, public intoxication and interference with official acts. According to court documents, police were called to the bar at 10:39 p.m. to investigate a disturbance. James had been kicked out of the bar, and police determined he was intoxicated. Court documents state James was not cooperative with police during his arrest and repeatedly threatened officers’ lives and claimed a gang affiliation. “I’m Gangster Disciple, my organization they coming after you,” James allegedly told police. The release said evidence collected from James’ clothing “corroborated evidence” from Kinney’s apartment. https://www.kcrg.com/content/news/Du...488915161.html Quote:
