Owner of limo company in deadly crash was once an FBI informant

Sandnigger informant

The owner of the limo company involved in the upstate crash that killed 20 people served as an FBI informant in a 2009 terror plot that targeted two synagogues in Riverdale and an Air National Guard base, The Post has learned.

Federal Department of Transportation records show that Prestige Limousine Chauffeur Service — identified by Gov. Andrew Cuomo as the company whose limo crashed on Saturday — is owned by Shahed Hussain of Gaansevort.

Hussain’s listed address is the same as in bankruptcy records for the Shahed Hussain who testified in Manhattan federal court at the 2010 trial of four men he recruited into an FBI sting operation after infiltrating a mosque in Newburgh.

All four men — ringleader James Cromitie, David Williams, Onta Williams and Laguerre Payen — were convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Hussain’s address is the Crest Inn Suites and Cottages, a string of 23 one-story attached units that manager Arnie Cornett, 60, described as “traditional housing.”

Cornett identified the Crest Inn’s owner as a man he knows only as “Mr. Malik,” who lives in Dubai.

Hussain, 62, is also known as “Malik,” according to local news reports.

Cornett said Hussain’s son — whom he knows as “Shawn” — formerly lived at the Crest Inn but recently moved to Albany, and now “just comes here to collect the rent and leaves.”

Cornett also said that “Prestige used to be here” but relocated about 18 months ago.

“From what I’m told, they operated out of the back parking lot,” he said.

“They don’t operate here anymore.”

Cornett also said the state police “came here last night.”

“They asked me about the limo company,” he said.

“They told me they wanted to find the owner.”

SUNY professor identified as pedestrian killed in Upstate NY limo crash
By Emily Saul

October 8, 2018 | 6:50pm | Updated October 8, 2018 | 7:04pm

A SUNY Oswego geology professor was one of two pedestrians killed in the horrific limousine crash in upstate New York, his family said Monday.

Assistant Professor Brian Hough had been with a relative, who also was killed, said Katie Kent, who identified herself as family, on Facebook.

“We are absolutely devastated at the incomprehensible loss of my nephew” and other relative, Kent wrote. “My nephew was an accomplished professor, an amazing husband, and daddy. Our family is trying to make sense of this. Prayers or well wishes please for my brother and sister-in-law, and Brian’s brother, JT.”

A spokesman for SUNY confirmed Hough’s passing to Syracuse.com, as did a man identified as a Hough family rep to The Sentinel newspaper of Carlisle, Pa., near where the victim went to high school.

Hough was a visiting professor at Oswego teaching oceanography, paleontology, historical geology and stratigraphy, according to the school’s website.

“In a short time, Brian became a major part of our campus family,” SUNY Oswego president Deborah Stanley told the site. “He was a dedicated faculty member who inspired his students to learn and understand at a deeper level, and whose contributions were often sought by his colleagues. He will be deeply missed and remembered fondly by all, always.”

The accident has been called the nation’s worst transportation disaster in a decade.

All 17 passengers and the limo driver, Scott Lisinicchia — who were headed to a brewery in Cooperstown for a birthday bash — were killed when the vehicle slammed into a drainage ditch. The two dead pedestrians raised the death toll to 20.

Two young women were added Monday to the list of 20 victims killed in the upstate limo accident over the weekend.

Amanda Rivenburg, 29, of Albany and Rachael Cavosie, 30, of Waterford were celebrating their friend Amy Steenburg’s 30th birthday when the driver of their stretch 2001 Ford Excursion blew through a stop sign in Schoharie and crashed.

Rivenburg was a social worker at Living Resources, an organization for disabled New Yorkers. Her supervisor, Frank Prevrati, told The Times Union that she was the “heart” of the organization and a “young superstar.”

“She was dedicated and wonderful and kind,” he said.

Cavosie was also remembered for her kindness by her cousin Alyssa Cavosie.

Rachael was a “soul that touched so many lives,” Alyssa wrote in a Facebook tribute.

“She gave me so much guidance, and even though she was the younger cousin, I looked up to her and often sought her advice through out my life,” Alyssa wrote, noting that they were just three months apart in age.

Rachael’s father, Michael Cavoise, declined comment when he answered his daughter’s cellphone late Monday.

Driver in deadly Upstate New York limo crash had prior drug busts
By Bruce Golding
October 8, 2018 | 6:04pm

The driver in the deadly upstate limo crash was busted twice on drug charges during the past eight years — including once during a traffic stop, according to reports published at the time.

Scott Lisinicchia, then 48, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and an equipment violation when he was stopped while driving in Saratoga Springs on Nov. 22, 2013, The Saratogian reported the following day.

Lisinicchia was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in Saratoga Springs on July 2, 2010, according to the Saratogian.

On Monday, a law-enforcement official told ABC News that Lisnicchia was behind the wheel of the stretch limo that blew past a stop sign and plowed into the parking lot at the Apple Barrel Country Store & Cafe parking lot in Schoharie, New York, on Saturday afternoon.

Lisinicchia and all 17 people in the limo — who were headed to a brewery in Cooperstown for one passenger’s birthday party — were killed when the limo crashed into a drainage ditch.

Two bystanders were also killed by a parked car that struck them when it was hit by the limo.

Saratoga Springs City Court was closed Monday for the Columbus Day holiday, and neither the city police department nor the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office could immediately provide additional information on Lisinicchia’s arrests or how the cases were disposed.

Limo had unlicensed driver, failed inspection before deadly crash
By Nolan Hicks, Max Jaeger and Bruce Golding
October 8, 2018 | 12:55pm | Updated October 8, 2018 | 2:30pm

The limo that crashed upstate, killing 20 people, failed a safety inspection just last month — and its driver wasn’t licensed to be behind the wheel, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday.

“The driver of the vehicle, the quote-unquote limousine, did not have the appropriate license to be operating that vehicle. Second, that vehicle was inspected by the New York State Department of Transportation last month and failed inspection and was not supposed to be on the road,” Cuomo told reporters at the Columbus Day parade in Manhattan.

“The owner of the company — in my opinion, because there’ll be legal consequences — the owner of the company had no business putting [a] failed vehicle on the road. So we’ll go through the whole situation, but sometimes we have the laws, we have the regulations, they’re broken,” the governor said.

The vehicle’s operator, Prestige Limousine Chauffeur Service, has had an overall dismal track history on safety, according to records from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Prestige botched four of five vehicle inspections in the past 24 months — forcing the carrier to cease operations each time, FMCSA records show. The company’s 80 percent failure rate dwarfs the national average of 20.72 percent, according to the statistics.

Cuomo said the state is seeking a cease-and-desist order to keep Prestige Limo from operating until an investigation into Saturday’s crash is complete, the Associated Press reported.
