A high school girls’ soccer coach was arrested in Connecticut after exposing himself from inside his car to a young girl on the street, police said.

David Sharpe, 29, was taken into custody Saturday for allegedly flashing the girl as she walked near Old Post Road and South Benson Road in Fairfield on Oct. 23, police said.

The victim provided responding officers an accurate description of the man and his vehicle, helping investigators to identify Sharpe as the suspect, police said.

Sharpe, who had worked as the girls’ soccer coach for Staples High School in Westport, resigned from his post after an interview with detectives. A call seeking comment from district officials was not immediately returned on Tuesday.

The incident may be related to a similar case that happened in Norwalk on Sept. 26, but officials did not provide any more details of the allegations. Police in Norwalk and Fairfield are now coordinating and additional charges may be filed, according to Fairfield police Lt. Robert Kalamaras.

Sharpe, who was arrested on charges of public indecency and breach of peace, was released on a promise to appear in court and was expected to return to court Dec. 13. It was unclear if he hired an attorney and attempts to reach him Tuesday were unsuccessful.

Sharpe also works as a human resources adviser at Thomson Reuters, according to his Facebook profile. He attended Staples High School before studying psychology at Villanova University in Philadelphia, according to the profile.

A Thomson Reuters spokesman said the company had no immediate comment but would look into the allegations.
