Michael Wright in a Knicks preseason game in 2001.

Michael Wright, 35, was discovered sprawled in the back seat of his vehicle, covered in garbage bags, around 11 a.m. Tuesday in Midwood. He had a puncture wound above his left eyebrow, cops said.

The Lexus SUV had been sitting on E. 16th Street near Avenue I since Sunday, neighbors told police.

Wright’s roommate Mark Holdbrook had reported him missing from their Closter, NJ, home Sunday, but Holdbrook told authorities he hadn’t seen his roommate since last Thursday.

The college hoop star was born in Chicago and was a forward for the Arizona Wildcats before being drafted by the Knicks in 2001.

Yet he never made it onto the roster, and instead played overseas in a number of different countries — including Poland, Turkey, and South Korea.

“He left his French team in February and was planning to go back to Europe and play,” Wright’s cousin, Randolph Berry, told the Chicago Sun Times Wednesday.

“He wasn’t planning on retiring ,” Berry said.

New Jersey prosecutors have charged two men with killing former Knicks draft pick Michael Wright, whose body was found in his car in Brooklyn last year.

Mark Holdbrooks, 59, and David “King Victor” Victor, 35, were picked up and held on $3 million each for the killing, Bergen County prosecutors said Wednesday.

Holdbrooks was a roommate and longtime pal of Wright, 35, and called cops Nov. 8 last year to report him missing, prosecutors said.

Two days later, Wright was found dead inside his white Lexus near 98 E. 16th St. in Brooklyn, according to prosecutors.

“Detectives determined that Wright was drugged and murdered in his Closter [NJ] home by Holdbrooks, his longtime roommate, and Holdbrook’s accomplice, Victor,” prosecutors said.

“Detectives determined that, following the murder, Holdbrooks and Victor loaded the body … into Wright’s Lexus. Victor then drove the vehicle with Wright’s body to 16th Street in Brooklyn, where he abandoned the vehicle.”

Wright was a star at the University of Arizona and drafted by the Knicks in 2001. The 6-foot-8 Wright went on to enjoy a long pro hoops career in Europe
