A Georgia cop resigned after getting busted during a drug raid at an apartment complex where $30,000 in drugs were found, police officials said.

In a handwritten resignation letter, Officer Iris Rowe apologized to the Atlanta Police Department for what she called a “shameful act” following her arrest on Monday at the Alexandria Landing apartment complex in College Park, where officers found marijuana, pills, guns, ammunition and roughly $8,000 in cash inside a unit after getting a tip that drugs were being sold there, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

“I would like to send my deepest apologies to the department and others for this shameful act,” Rowe wrote in the resignation letter effective Wednesday.

Police officials told the newspaper in a statement that Rowe was informed that she would be dismissed during an emergency hearing with Police Chief Erika Shields on Thursday. Rowe, who had two years on the force and was assigned to mobile patrol, instead chose to resign. She had been suspended after police officials learned of her arrest.

Police told WSB-TV that investigators were searching for suspects Jeremy Laye and Tony Robinson at the apartment complex when they raided a unit and found them with Rowe inside, as well as a large amount of marijuana and an assortment of prescription pills with a street value of about $30,000. College Park Police Chief Keith Meadows told WXIA that 7 pounds of marijuana was seized during the raid.

Officers also found the stacks of cash and high-caliber weapons, as well as Rowe’s uniform, badge, bullet-resistant vest, police ID card and radio. More drugs and two guns, including an AR-15, were found in the trunk of Rowe’s car, police said.

Rowe was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of illegal drugs in a drug-free zone. Laye and Robinson were arrested on drug charges. Laye was also charged with obstruction of an officer and possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer, WSB-TV reports.

Rowe, Laye and Robinson are scheduled to appear in court on June 27.
Those who find the truth hateful just hate hearing the truth.
