Woman stabbed in Westover after argument with daughter’s boyfriend, police say
April 10, 2019 2:50 pm

WESTOVER — Police found a 48-year-old Westover woman with a knife in her head while responding to a call on Tuesday night.

She was stabbed as the result of an argument with her daughter’s boyfriend, Zachary Nipper, of Baltimore, Westover Police Chief Rick Panico said. He is charged with malicious wounding.

The woman’s daughter, Kizzie Hardy, told The Dominion Post her mother was not stabbed and both she and Nipper told police it wasn’t a stabbing. According to Hardy, the kitchen knife hit her mother in the back of the head and became lodged when Nipper picked up a drying rack with dishes and threw it at her mother.

Hardy called The Dominion Post with her side of the story after seeing the article online on Wednesday.

Officers responded to 426 Dunkard Ave. just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday and found the victim with a knife sticking out of her head, Panico said. Officers wrapped the wound and called EMS, who transported the woman to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Panico said the woman was home Wednesday morning.

MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV) -- A man is in custody after allegedly stabbing a woman in the head in Westover.

According to the criminal complaint, officers responded to a home on Holland Avenue after a reported stabbing. The victim was found with a knife coming out of her head and a cut on her wrist. The victim told police that Zachary Nipper attacked her when she tried to stop him from choking another person at the home.

Nipper was taken into custody, but police say he refused to give his identity at first. Officers say he was "violent and erratic" and kicked a patrol vehicle door, damaging it. Due to his behavior, police say they were unable to get fingerprints for proper identification at the time of Nipper's arrest.

Nipper was later identified and is charged with malicious wounding.
