Teen in custody after shooting, killing his friend, sheriff says

Eric Morris found dead at home on Old Canaan Road

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. —

A teen who deputies were looking for in connection with a deadly weekend shooting is in custody, according to Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright.



Brian Cornelius Foster, 18
, of Old Canaan Road, was wanted on charges of murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, deputies said.

"You don't take guns and play with them and do stupid things with them. Guns in the wrong hands are very bad. Guns handled properly with due care are awesome," Wright said.

Foster is accused of shooting 29-year-old Eric Morris, Wright said. When asked how Foster and Morris knew each other Wright said, “They were associates, friends.”

Deputies said Morris was found dead about 3:30 p.m. Sunday in a home along Old Canaan Road after deputies were called about a shooting.

A second victim shooting victim was found at a nearby home, deputies said.

Deputies said the second person's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
