7-year-old boy wounded in shooting in the Bronx: cops

A 7-year-old boy was wounded when a gunman opened fire in the Bronx on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The youngster was with his grandmother in front of 600 East 137th St., part of the NYCHA Mill Brook Houses, in Mott Haven around 12:40 p.m. when the shooter pointed his gun towards two other men at the front of the building, Assistant Chief Larry W. Nikunen, commanding officer of patrol for the Bronx, said at the scene.

The gunman fired off an unknown number of rounds, and the boy — who is not currently believed to have been the intended target — was grazed by a bullet in the back of his right leg.

He was rushed Lincoln Medical Center in stable condition, Nikunen said.

The suspect — a Hispanic man wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants — then fled from the building an ultimately ducked into Cypress Avenue 6 train station.

Cops are also looking to speak to the two people who were standing in front of the building when the shots rang out, although their involvement in the shooting was not immediately clear, Nikunen said.

Two busted in stray-bullet shooting of 7-year-old in The Bronx

Two people were busted for the stray-bullet shooting of a 7-year-old outside of a Bronx housing project, police said Thursday.

Manuel Colon, 31, and Keyshawn Williams, 21, were arrested for the June 5 shootout that left the boy wounded outside the Millbrook Houses in Mott Haven, cops said.

Colon, who goes by the street name “Pacman,” was hit with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment charges.

Williams was charged with attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, cops said.

Colon has five prior arrests, a police source said, including one for a shooting and robbery in 2011.

In that caper, Colon and several other accomplices shot a man in the hand in Washington Heights after jumping him, then sped off in a stolen car and crashed into a responding ambulance, the source said.

Williams has one prior arrest from last year for jumping out of a police car after cops had cuffed him after he side swiped another car while driving, a law-enforcement source said.
