UPDATE: Misha Rivera was killed by blunt force to the head and strangulation, according to Rogers police.

Rogers police have released the details of Rivera's death. Detectives believe her live-in boyfriend Kevin Wayne Clayborn killed her. Clayborn was apprehended Thursday morning in Oklahoma City.

A probable cause affidavit states that Rivera had a large laceration on her forehead that was approximately 3 inches long, exposing her skull, and ligature marks around her throat.

Rivera's body was found on May 5 inside her apartment at 1318 W. Centennial Drive in Rogers. Police found blood splattered on the floor around Rivera's body and a ligature wrapped around her neck, according to affidavit.

Blood was found on the apartment's front door, the affidavit states.

Clayborn lived with Rivera. Police searched the apartment and found a closet with men's clothes inside. There was a blood swipe on the closet's door from, the affidavit states.

"The height of the blood swipe was about the height of the hangers that were hanging inside the closet," the affidavit states. "Directly in front of the blood swipe, was a void in the clothes that were hung up."

Blood was also found on curtains draped across the closet, the affidavit states.


ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA) -- Police have arrested the man suspected in a Rogers woman's murder, and the suspect is her boyfriend.

Kevin Wayne Clayborn, 49, has been arrested in the murder of 48-year-old Misha Rivera, whose body was found in her residence at 1318 W. Centennial Drive in Rogers.

Keith Foster of Rogers Police said Clayborn was Rivera's boyfriend and was also living with Rivera.
"Information developed during the investigation led to Clayborn being the initial suspect in the homicide," Foster said.

A vehicle registered to Rivera was missing from her home, but was later located and recovered in Van Buren.

Further investigation led to the area of Oklahoma City, Okla., where Clayborn was believed to be.


UPDATE: Shelter Releases Statement on Rogers Woman's Death

Here is a statement from NWA Women's Shelter Thrift Store on Misha Rivera's death:

"All of us at Northwest Arkansas Women's Shelter are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and coworker, Misha Rivera. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this most difficult time. Misha was an employee at our Thrift Store for over a year, was well-liked by her colleagues, and was a passionate advocate to support those who are affected by domestic violence. Counseling has been made available for our employees, volunteers, and clients. We will do everything we can to support the local authorities investigating of the situation."
