Authorities busted five men for their alleged roles in a gun and drug ring that smuggled assault weapons, pistols and $50,000 in heroin into the Bronx, state officials said Thursday.

“This takedown is the latest example of our shared commitment in cracking down on illegal gun trafficking, taking these dangerous weapons off of our streets,” New York State Attorney General Letitia James said a press conference announcing the takedown.

Four Bronx men — Luis Alsina, 30; Michael Alsina, 32; Miguel Rodriguez, 32 and Rafael Cruz, 22 — and a 29-year-old Pennsylvania man, Josue Pagan-Adorno, are facing charges of criminal sale of firearms, criminal possession of a weapon and conspiracy for their part in the gun trafficking ring, authorities said.

The 107-count indictment was unsealed Thursday.

Authorities say, Michael Alsina allegedly sold guns and ammo to undercover agents 10 times between June 22 and Nov. 12 last year.

Luis Alsina, Michael’s brother, provided weapons for some of the sales — but sold illegal weapons to cops himself three times over the second half of last year, according to authorities.

Rodriguez, Cruz and Pagan-Adorno are accused of providing the Bronx brothers some of the firearms and bullets, cops said.

In total, 17 guns, including three semi-automatic rifles and a .40-caliber Carbine assault weapon, were seized by cops, authorities said.

The brothers were also caught selling 250 grams of heroin to undercovers in August and September, according to the indictment. They both face charges of drug possession and distribution, cops said.

“The majority of the firearms transactions occurred within the confines of 40th and 46th precincts in the Bronx,” James said. “While the drug transactions occurred in Washington Heights.”

Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark declared Thursday, “The gunfire on our streets must stop.”

“We cannot and will not tolerate illegal firearms in the hands of criminals,” Clarke said. “The Bronx saw over 250 shootings in 2019, resulting in 250 victims. So far, this year 23 people have been shot, that’s up from 17 victims last year at this time.”
Those who find the truth hateful just hate hearing the truth.
