Aug 8, 2017 - 11:16 am

PORT ALLEN — West Baton Rouge Parish investigators believe two men whose bodies were recovered from the Intracoastal Canal Monday drowned while trying to get away from police, Sheriff Mike Cazes said Tuesday morning.

The bodies were recovered in an area deputies searched Sunday night for two suspects wanted in the kidnapping of a Lafayette woman who was found in the back of the van the two men were driving when they tried to evade police
, the sheriff said.

Cazes said the Coroner's Office was still working Tuesday morning to positively identify the bodies, but Cazes revealed both are black males. Both were wearing red shirts and black pants, as were the suspects at the center of Sunday's manhunt, Cazes said.

The first body was recovered about 3 p.m. Monday, and the second about 7 p.m., Cazes said.

Body of work release inmate accused of murdering ex-girlfriend recovered
Wednesday, September 20th 2017, 2:29 pm PDT

ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) -

Investigators confirm that a body recovered from the Mississippi is that of a man who is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend after he escaped from a work release facility.

According to the Zachary Police Department, the body of Alvin Dixon Jr. was recovered by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office Maritime Division on September 7.

"At the time of the recovery, Police Detectives were unsure of the identity, but suspected that it could be Alvin Dixon due to the clothing," explains Zachary Police Chief David McDavid.

Alvin Dixon is accused of stabbing his girlfriend Aleshia Dixon, 35, to death. Her body was found near LA 19 and Lower Zachary Rd.

Chief McDavid added the two were not married and happened to share the same last name.

Investigators also believe Dixon jumped from the Mississippi River Bridge the same night as the stabbing. Travis says an officer saw the victim’s car on the west side of the bridge, and saw a man matching Dixon’s description jump.

Mother, son charged after chasing teen into pool, watching him drown
Tuesday, October 3rd 2017, 8:37 pm PDT

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A mother and son were charged after allegedly chasing a teenager into a swimming pool and watching him drown.

Anneckarena Beason and her 18-year-old son Reginald Beason were indicted by a Shelby County grand jury in the death of 19-year-old Javaughn Williams.

Police say the mother and son were armed with a tire iron and a box cutter, and they chased Williams over a fence where he drowned in a pool on the other side.

"I got a call from my wife saying somebody's dead in the pool," a man, who did not want to be identified, said.

The man still remembers rushing home in August 2016 to find police and yellow crime scene tape around his house in Fox Meadows.

"When I got there, he was laying in the pool. It was just horrible," the man said.

According to a the district attorney, the Beasons and several others chased Williams across the parking lot at Belle Forrest Community School on Ridgeway Road after they said Williams had attacked his girlfriend--Beason's daughter--during a fight.

Investigators say while trying to escape, Williams, who could not swim, jumped over a fence and ended up in the back yard swimming pool.

Reginald is accused of following Williams over the fence and grabbing a piece of timber and jabbing it at Williams, who went under the water.

The man said Beason told his wife, who witnessed what happened, this: "There's a n-word dead in your pool and he ain't coming out," he said.

Investigators say the mother and son never tried to help Williams but instead took off.

JUST IN: Crime Stoppers tips lead to alleged Royal Palm thief’s arrest

Posted: 7:42 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017

ROYAL PALM BEACH —

More than a month after surveillance photos circulated of Antisha Brown and her now-deceased girlfriend allegedly using stolen credit cards at Walmarts across Palm Beach County, the 23-year-old woman has been arrested on burglary, theft and fraud charges, records show.

Brown, who was arrested Thursday, is suspected in a string of car break-ins Oct. 31 at Royal Palm Beach’s Counter Point Estates development, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office records. Authorities say she used credit cards stolen in the break-ins to make hundreds of dollars in purchases.

She was being held Tuesday morning in the Palm Beach County Jail on a $24,000 bond. Authorities filed more burglary, fraud and theft charges against Brown on Tuesday, court records show, in a Nov. 25 incident. The details of those alleged crimes were not immediately available.

In the last year Brown has spent time in jail for several battery-related offenses, court records show.

Nearly a dozen anonymous tips came in through Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County identifying the women in surveillance photos as Brown and her girlfriend, 21-year-old Liane Gibson, records state.

By then, though, Gibson had drowned in a retention pond at Riviera Beach’s Indian Trace Apartments fleeing from a confrontation with at least one other woman late Nov. 10. Riviera Beach police ruled her death an accident and do not expect to file charges in her death.

Records indicate that had Gibson survived, she would have faced multiple burglary and theft charges in the Oct. 31 incidents as well.

NEW: Fight before Riviera drowning stemmed from dispute involving tot

RIVIERA BEACH —

As she ran from what she called an outnumbered fight one Friday night, Antisha Brown figured her wife-to-be fled, too, and would be waiting for her at their Riviera Beach home.

Liane Gibson, 21, was supposed to go head-to-head with a woman who Brown said was posting inappropriate comments and pictures about her 2-year-old son on social media.

But when they — Brown, Gibson and Gibson’s teenage relative — arrived late Nov. 10 at the Indian Trace Apartments, off North Military Trail and south of the Beeline Highway, they were outnumbered, according to Brown.

Brown and the teen told police a woman and Gibson scuffled, then the woman pulled a gun. So, they ran: Brown out of the complex, and Gibson and the teen to the pool area and then into a retention pond. Brown said she didn’t see either Gibson or the teen go into the pond, but had heard the two were cornered.

The teen told police when they made it halfway across the lake, Gibson began sinking and she couldn’t hold on to her any longer.

The teen made it to the other side of the water. Gibson never resurfaced.

Police said Wednesday the investigation into Gibson’s death is closed and no charges are expected to be filed. Her drowning was ruled an accident.

Body found in search for missing kid swimmer
By Natalie Musumeci
June 25, 2018 | 9:29am | Updated

The body of a child has been recovered from waters off the coast of Long Beach, Long Island, and officials are working to determine whether it is that of the 10-year-old boy who vanished while swimming in the area with his older brother last week.

Officials with the Nassau County Marine Patrol found the body around 12:30 p.m. Sunday off Lincoln Boulevard and brought it to the Nassau County medical examiner’s office, Newsday reported.

The medical examiner is working to positively identify the body, which police say is that of a young African-American male, according to News 12 Long Island.

The discovery of the body comes five days after a 10-year-old Hempstead boy, identified by News 12 Long Island as Ramel McCrae, went missing in the waters off Ocean Beach Park near Edwards Boulevard.

The boy had been swimming unsupervised with his 11-year-old brother about 6 p.m. Tuesday before the siblings became separated, cops said.

The victim’s older brother made it safely out of the water.

The brothers had taken a bus by themselves to the beach before tragedy struck, police said. There were no lifeguards on duty at the time of the incident.

The US Coast Guard and authorities including the NYPD’s Aviation Unit and Dive Unit searched more than 310 nautical miles for a total of 22 hours looking for the boy before the Coast Guard called off the search.

Ramel’s mother has been notified by police of the discovery of the body, News 12 Long Island reported.

Police Release 911 Calls in Drowning Death of Teen in Hartford Pool
A surveillance camera system at the park was not working at the time due to extreme heat, according to the city's mayor

Published at 7:08 AM EDT on Jul 4, 2018

Hartford police say a teen drowned at Keney Park pool in the early morning hours of the Fourth of July.

Hartford investigators say it would have been difficult for anyone to gain access to the pool because it was surrounded by not one, but two fences. In fact, police officers had to wait for the fire department to cut the chains that secure the gates before they could enter the pool area and pull out the victim. That victim, family members confirm, is 16-year-old Jaevon Whyte of Hartford.

Police have released the 911 calls as teenagers frantically called for help twice, trying to find their missing friend, only to learn he had drown.

"Can you guys please come to Keney Park Pool as soon as possible? There's a body inside the pool," a teenager can be heard saying to the operator.
