NYPD bosses are looking into a pair of officers caught on camera apparently sitting in their cruiser as security guards from a nearby store wrestled and chased down a fleeing shoplifter in the Bronx.

In the video obtained by The Post, the cruiser can be seen pulling up across the street from a Marshalls department store on East Avenue just before 5:30 p.m. on May 28 as the security guard is standing with the thief.

After a few seconds, the alleged shoplifter, identified by police as 24-year-old Vidal Lopez, takes off. The security guard chases Lopez and throws him up against an SUV, the video shows.

The two briefly tussle and Lopez manages to get free by wiggling out of his T-shirt and runs away.

With the guard just steps behind, the two then can be seen sprinting right past the front of the cop car.

The security guard gives up and walks back near the police car moments later, the video shows.

Another police car can then be seen arriving at the scene — and the two cruisers take off in the direction where the shoplifter ran.

It is unclear why the officers stayed in their car in the roughly minute-and-a-half video.

“The incident is under internal review,” an NYPD spokeswoman told The Post.

Cops eventually caught up to Lopez around 40 minutes later and just blocks away — and charged him with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, according to the NYPD.

Lopez is accused of stealing a pair of shoes and five other items, valued at about $133, by hiding them in a black duffel bag, cops said.

The NYPD would not say if the officers in the cruiser made the arrest.

This is the second video in recent days that appears to show cops standing by during crimes.

The other video, published by The Post Sunday, showed at least four uniformed officers and a supervisor watching on as a group of men brawled in Inwood Saturday morning.

The NYPD didn’t say why the officers didn’t step in during the minute-long video but told The Post two men were charged with assault and another two were issued summonses for disorderly conduct after the fight.
