Cops are looking for a maniac who launched a string of violent outbursts Monday on the Upper East Side including a random slugging of a woman looking at her cellphone.

The suspect can be seen on surveillance video gingerly walking on East 85th Street near Park Avenue around 11 a.m. when he suddenly strikes the 21-year-old woman in the face without notice, according to police.

The victim suffered bruising and swelling to the face but refused medical attention. The suspect simply walked away.

Minutes earlier, the suspect approached a man sitting in his car in front of 960 Park Ave., cops said.

I know you are talking about me! the suspect said before brandishing a knife and chasing the man around his car.

Cops were looking for the individual, who was described as about 25 years old and around 5 feet 6 inches tall.

Police have identified the man they say caused mayhem on the Upper East Side by slugging a woman in the face and chasing another man with a knife, police said Thursday.

Investigators say Gary Smith, 27, was caught on surveillance camera Monday at about 11 a.m. walking along East 85th Street near Park Avenue and then suddenly whacking an unsuspecting 21-year-old woman in the face, officials said.

The woman, who was looking down at her cellphone when the suspect attacked, suffered bruising and swelling.

Just a few minutes before, Smith allegedly approached a man standing outside a car just a few blocks away on East 82nd Street, cops said.

I know you are talking about me! the suspect said, then chased the man with a knife.

Police believe Smith is also responsible for menacing a man and a woman on East 87th Street shortly after the on-camera attack, brandishing a knife and threatening them, authorities said.

Smith was arrested in October on a petit larceny charge after he was busted stealing name-brand perfumes from Ulta Beauty on East 86th Street including YSL, Chanel, Armani and Tom Ford, police said.

He was still being sought Thursday.
