Students and faculty at the University of South Alabama are in mourning after a professor was found dead inside his home Wednesday afternoon.

The Mobile Police Department launched a homicide investigation after Matthew Wiser, 39, was found at his home in the 3400 block of Gaillard Road in West Mobile at approximately 3:35 p.m. suffering from an apparent fatal gunshot.

Campus police were doing a welfare check on Wiser at the time of the discovery.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -- Two arrests were made Friday in the murder of University of South Alabama professor Dr. Matt Wiser.

Police say Tiquez Timmons and Derric Scott, both 20, are both charged with felony murder in the case.

Wiser, an economics professor at USA, was found shot to death on November 20 at his home on Gaillard Drive. Police say they believe he died during a burglary.

Police Chief Lawrence Battiste said there could be more arrests in the case.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) ó A video game provided the key break in a homicide case that had stumped investigators, according to information provided by prosecutors in court.

Mobile County Assistant District Attorney Keith Blackwood said at a bail hearing that a burglar who broke into University of South Alabama professor Matthew Wiserís home on Nov. 20 and stole a Nintendo Switch. Blackwood said police later tracked down defendant Tiquez Timmons by tracing the game systemís online activity.
