An injury corrections officer John Peloso suffered after an inmate allegedly chucked a garbage can at his head.

A Rikers Island inmate chucked a garbage can at a city correction officer over the weekend — and it took five staples to sew up the wound on his head, officials said.

Jashey Little, 18, who was being held at the Robert N. Davoren Center on a murder charge, hurled the pail at Correction Officer John Peloso around 4 p.m. on Sunday during a “disturbance” at the facility, causing him to hit his head on a wall, the city’s Department of Correction said.

Peloso was released from the hospital after doctors treated his head wound.

Little has since been re-arrested, Department of Correction Press Secretary Jason Kersten said.

He was busted back in March for allegedly fatally stabbing a 20-year-old man in the torso — and was charged with second-degree murder, police said.

He has also been arrested for public lewdness, forcible touching and obstructing governmental administration, correction records show.

Just a month ago, another teen inmate at the same center was caught on video pummeling a jail guard.

Rickeem Parker — who records indicate is between 17 and 18 years old — was allowed to go free on bail only a week after the Oct. 5 attack.

He had been arrested for assault and harassment in September, and bail was set at $1,500. It’s unclear if Parker or someone else put the money up for his release.
