About 1:15 a.m., a UC Berkeley student was at a food court in the 2500 block of Durant Avenue when a man approached and struck up a conversation, police said.

After she left the food court, the man followed and kept trying to talk to her. Police said he then asked her for a hug when they reached the Unit 1 Courtyard one block away.

When she said no, the man followed her to Freeborn Hall, then grabbed her at the hallís entrance and followed her inside, police said. A hall security monitor then told the man to leave and called campus police.

An officer responded and, after reviewing hall surveillance-camera footage, recognized the man from a previous incident.

Within a couple of hours, police were able to find and detain the man, identified as Jesus Dickey, at Peopleís Park, UC Police Sgt. Nicolas Hernandez said.
