Scott County Jail

An Iowa therapist has been accused of sexually exploiting a female patient by inviting her home and kissing and touching her in a hot tub, according to reports.

Aracely Schutters, 45, was arrested Monday on felony charges following the incident with a patient from The Compass, a psychotherapy group in Bettendorf, news station KWQC reported.

Authorities said the social worker invited the woman to her home under the guise of helping with her issues.

The woman went into Schutters’ hot tub intending to discuss the problems, but the counselor then allegedly tried to ply her with alcohol, KWQC reported.

Schutters also made unwanted advances on the patient, including “kissing and touching of the victim’s inner thigh, breast and groin,” according to an affidavit.

“This is so wrong. I can’t be your counselor anymore,” Schutters allegedly told the woman.

Shutters apologized after the patient got out of the hot tub and left the home, police said.

In an interview with police, the therapist confessed to kissing the woman in the hot tub, the Quad-City Times reported.

Schutters was arrested while leaving work and booked at Scott County Jail. She was released Tuesday on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 2.
