Police records: FGCU sexual assault suspect linked to 2011 sex crime

A Fort Myers man arrested this week in connection to a sex assault at Florida Gulf Coast University has been linked to another sex crime, according to police records.

A report shows the Florida Department of Law Enforcement connected Willie Foust Jr., 33, to a 2011 Lee County Sheriff's Office case. Foust has not been charged in the case.

Details of the crime were not included in a heavily redacted incident report that the sheriff's office provided. The crime was reported to the sheriff's office on Nov. 10, 2011.

Foust's connection to the Lee County sex crime is included in a Dec. 21 report about how he was linked to the Aug. 25 sexual assault at FGCU. Foust was arrested Tuesday on a second-degree sexual battery charge. He is accused of sexually assaulting an FGCU student after telling her that he was an Uber driver and driving her to campus.

A sexual assault kit from the FGCU case was submitted to FDLE on Sept. 1 for examination. When DNA from the kit was compared to DNA samples in a national database, DNA matching Foust's was found, according to the report.
