"I was scared just because there were so many and they were unsupervised," said Daija Qualis. "It looked like a hostile situation."

Police said it began near the JCPenney wing but shoppers said it spread to the food court.

"They were shaking on the doors, kicking the doors,":bongo: said Tyler Johnson. "The kids outnumbered the adults 10 to two. It was bad."

Just last week, Cherry Hill police warned parents not to let kids wander on their own at the mall.:)

Police: 5 Arrests Made After Nearly 1,000 Juveniles Left Unattended At Cherry Hill Mall
December 27, 2017 at 6:15 pm

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (CBS) — Several arrests were made after police say nearly 1,000 unaccompanied juveniles were at the Cherry Hill Mall on Tuesday night.

Cherry Hill police say officers responded to the mall around 7:30 p.m. for a report of a groidle of juveniggers acting disorderly (chimping out) near the J.C. Penney wing.

Police say they found 700 to 1,000 unaccompanied juveniles at the mall at the time.

Police say while they were dispersing the crowd, five juveniles, four from Camden and one from Cherry Hill, were arrested for charges ranging from disorderly conduct to resisting arrest.

No injuries or property damage were reported.

Last week, Cherry Hill Police Chief William Monaghan warned parents about the potential for problems involving teens.

“There’s not a lot for them to do during the winter time. Parents seem to allow them to go to a mall or shopping center unsupervised,” Monaghan said.

A spokeswoman for the mall released the following statement to Eyewitness News, saying, “The safety and security of our shoppers, retailers, and employees are always top priority. The day after Christmas is one of the busiest days of the year at the mall. We partnered with CHPD to help ensure a safe shopping environment. We thank the police and our security partners for their assistance and commitment to ensuring the comfort and safety of the shopping center.”
