Wednesday, November 1st 2017, 9:17 am PST

We are continuing to follow the killing of two people overnight in Evansville.

Police rushed to a house on East Maryland, near Heidelbach Avenue, just before 10:30 p.m. We are told the call came in as a "shots fired" run.

Officers found two victims inside the home. They were later identified as 29-year-old Dewone Broomfield and 28-year-old Mary Woodruff.

Donna Swango is a friend of the victims. She tells us the two were a couple and living in the home where they were murdered. Swango says Woodruff had a daughter and Broomfield had two children, none of which were living in the home at the time.

EVANSVILLE — One of the people shot and killed Monday in Evansville identified the shooters to police and 911 dispatchers, according to Evansville Police Department.

Dewone Broomfield, 29, called 911 after he was shot, according to a probable cause affidavit. A recording of the call, which lasted almost 6 minutes, includes audio of Broomfield telling the dispatcher he was shot by William Rice and “Hackner” or “Wire Man.” :pPolice say “Wire Man” is an alias for Deshay Hackner.

Hackner, 22, and Rice, 19, were arrested Tuesday afternoon after a police chase on the Southeast Side. Both men were booked into Vanderburgh County Jail with no bond available.
