Three ghouls from Rochester were arrested for breaking into parked cars at funeral homes — while mourners gathered inside, police said.

Bruce Newton, 39, Ceatta Campbell, 20, and Chelsea O’Hare, 23, were nabbed Saturday after allegedly snatching items from cars during a funeral in Livingston, hurling empty purses out onto the road and using stolen credit cards to spend $700 at Best Buy, local station WHAM reported.

“Some crime in particular is despicable,” said Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn. “To target individuals at a vulnerable time in their life while attending a funeral is just plain reprehensible.”

The arrests were the culmination of a months-long investigation between the Monroe, Livingston and Ontario county authorities, who suspect the dastardly trio would read obituaries to find out when funerals in those counties were happening and target mourners.

The crime-triangle was charged with eight counts of grand larceny and three counts of criminal mischief but police suspect they could be responsible for over 50 crimes.

“This is probably only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the charges,” Sheriff O’Flynn said at a press conference.
