TURTLECREEK TWP., Warren County

UPDATE @ 7:59 p.m.: A cellphone led to the capture of 41-year-old Terry Froman of Brookport, Illinois, wanted in a Kentucky homicide and abduction.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers around 12:30 p.m. learned a suspect was headed to Ohio north on Interstate 75. Using location data from his cellphone, troopers spotted the suspect's vehicle, a white GMC Yukon with Illinois plates, and initiated a stop at 1:14 p.m. in the area of the 31 milepost. The suspect continued a short distance before pulling to the right berm. When troppers got out of their cruisers, they heard shots fired inside the vehicle. The shots were not directed at troopers, who did not return fire, according to a release from the patrol.

Troopers took of secure positions and waited for backup before approaching the vehicle. The highway was shut down to ensure motorists' safety.

Troopers then approached the vehicle and were able to apprehend the suspect without further incident. The suspect suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown. His injuries are not life-threatening, the OSP said.

A deceased woman was found in the rear seat of the SUV. The cause, location and time of her death have not yet been determined.

Charges are pending further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the victim's death.

UPDATE @ 6:20 p.m.: Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said friends of Kimberley Thomas went to her home around 10 a.m. this morning after she did not report to work. They found her 17-year-old son deceased, lying in the living room floor and called authorities. He had been shot twice, according to a news release issued by Redmon.

Prior to this call, the Kentucky State Police and Paducah Police Department were investigating a possible abduction at the south side of Paducah, Ky. A convenience store surveillance video showed a naked woman getting out of a white 2004 GMC Yukon and being forced back inside the vehicle.
Another call also was placed to the Kentucky State Police dispatch that Terry Froman, 41, of Brookport, Illinois, had been to his mother's house in Paducah covered in blood.

Froman is Thomas' ex-boyfriend, and it was later determined that Thomas was the person in the vehicle with Froman. She had been abducted from her house in Mayfield, Redmon stated.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office and Kentucky State Police are continuing its investigation.

UPDATE @ 5:45 p.m.: The Warren County Coroner's Office confirms Kim Thomas, 34, was found deceased inside Terry Froman's SUV. She was found naked and bloody, and likely was shot multiple times, the investigator said.

It is not clear when Thomas was shot.

Kentucky authorities had put out a broadcast into Ohio to be on the lookout for Froman, who was believed to have abducted Thomas.

Froman survived a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

UPDATE @ 5:20 p.m.: The Ohio State Highway Patrol said dispatchers were alerted at 12:59 p.m. to lookout for the white 2004 GMC Yukon driven by Terry Froman.

A trooper first spotted the vehicle at 12:59 p.m., and a traffic stop was initiated at 1:13 p.m., according to the OSP.

UPDATE @ 3:43 p.m.: Graves County, Ky. Coroner Dr. Phillip McClain told us the suspect shot himself one time, and that his injury is not life-threatening.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says they will now hold a news conference at 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Warren Correctional Institution off Ohio 63 in Lebanon. We will attend and will update this report as we get details.

UPDATE @: 3:08 p.m.: The I-75 shooting incident may be connected to an abduction and slaying in western Kentucky.

The Graves County, Ky., Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said a 17-year-old boy was found shot to death this morning at his home in Mayfield, Ky. The boy's mother, identified as 34-year-old Kim Thomas, apparently was taken against her will by an ex-boyfriend, which prompted a multi-state search, the Associated Press reported.

Graves County Coroner Phillip McClain said the boy suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The sheriff said there were signs of a struggle inside the home.

In the northbound lanes, troopers have cordoned off a white SUV, and southbound traffic is moving. The SUV appears to have a vanity Illinois license plate, TRICKE1.

All four doors to the SUV are open, and items are in the roadway, which appears to be shoes, clothing. There are at least 10 cruisers in the area.

UPDATE @: 2:39 p.m.: The Ohio Highway Patrol will be holding a news conference at the Cincinnati Premium Outlets off Ohio 63 in Monroe.

Southbound I-75 is now reopened between Ohio 63 and Ohio 122, but the northbound lanes remain shut down. Motorists who were stuck in the northbound lanes are now being turned around, using the north lanes and exiting at Ohio 63.

The suspect shot himself, and has been transported to an area hospital, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Troopers had been following the suspect, who was from out of state, according to the patrol.

Initial dispatch reports indicate a possible murder suspect may have shot himself near mile marker 31.

A motorist stuck in traffic said she saw police with guns drawn and ambulances at the scene.
