$30,000 reward for men who shot security guard at Galveston's San Luis Resort

Thursday, April 13, 2017 05:20AM
Where are the men who shot Phillip Molis? That is the question police in Galveston are asking this morning.

There is now a $30,000 reward for information in the Sunday night shooting of a San Luis Hotel security guard.

Police are releasing a flyer with a picture of the injured security guard, and are hoping the reward will be enough to get these suspects off the streets.

Molis is pictured on the flyer. He is just 23 years old. His family said he was shot 11 times as he approached three men in the back parking lot of the San Luis Hotel.

After the shooting, the three men took off and have not been seen since. Galveston police said they are considered armed and dangerous.

Man in custody believed involved in Galveston security guard shooting

ABC13 learned a lot about the night Phillip Molis was shot in the parking lot of the San Luis.

First, Galveston police have a suspect in custody on unrelated charges who may be connected to the shooting.

Officers say 21-year-old Tyrone Davis Haines is a member of a gang called Gorilla Mob 187 from Missouri City.

He was arrested the night of the shooting when he was found during the manhunt for the suspects, attempting to hide himself.

Investigators hope someone will recognize his picture and have more information on the night Molis was shot.

ABC13 was told that on the night Molis was shot there were 10 car break-ins around the area. Molis approached the three suspects in the parking lot of the San Luis Resort when they opened fire.

GALVESTON, Texas – Police say the investigation into the shooting of a 23-year-old security guard behind the popular San Luis Hotel in Galveston continues. A $30,000 reward is now being offered for information in the case. Earlier this week the guard, now identified as Phillip Molis, was placed in ICU after undergoing surgery at UTMB-Galveston.

Late Sunday, Molis told police he spotted three suspicious men in a back parking lot at the hotel, located along the seawall. When the guard approached the men, at least one of them opened fire and shot him multiple times. An off-duty officer heard the gunfire and found the wounded guard. The suspects were already gone, however. On Thursday, police held a press conference releasing more info about the victim and a suspect in the case. They say responding officers found 10 cars broken into. When they went to look for the suspects, they found 21-year-old Tyrone Davis Haynes of Missouri City hiding nearby.
He was taken into custody and is considered a suspect in the incident, but the search for his alleged accomplices continues. Haynes remained in custody Thursday on an unrelated charge, police say. - (Black-on-white (http://www.newnation.org/NNN-Black-on-White.html))
