They were fingered by Facebook.

Two Bronx cops have been suspended for failing to tell NYPD brass that they let a suspect, who was handcuffed, escape from the back of their squad car — after footage of the getaway was posted online, sources said.
Officers Victor Yupa and Josue Vassallo managed to keep their blundering police work under wraps for three days before their higher ups caught wind of the video on Thursday and handed down their punishment, according to law enforcement sources.

The cops had arrested three men for disorderly conduct on Tuesday — while responding to a 911 call about drug sales at 234 E. 178th Street — and placed one of them, Alejandro Castillo, 21, in the backseat with his hands cuffed behind his back when the escape unfolded.

As the pair turned their attention to the other two men, sources said an unidentified individual opened the squad car door and allowed Castillo to flee on foot.

He was able to avoid police until early Thursday morning before he was busted at his nearby apartment just a block away, the sources said.

Yupa and Vassallo, thinking they could keep the incident under wraps, refused to report what happened to officials. They would have likely gotten away with it, too — if it weren’t for a Facebook video that showed Castillo hopping out the police car and running away.

Officials said NYPD brass eventually found the footage and promptly suspended the officers for failing to secure a prisoner, pending an internal investigation.

The officers have both served on the force for roughly three years.
