MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Nine people -- eight women and one man -- are charged with assault after members of the public alerted police to a beating video that briefly circulated Facebook, according to Middletown police.

"Numerous members of the public contacted the department and sent the video to the MPD Facebook page," Major Mark Hoffman said Tuesday. "Although the post was quickly removed, the investigating officer was able to review the incident, thanks to the information supplied by concerned citizens."

Police identified 19-year-old Avery Galliher as the woman being beaten at a home on 15th Avenue in Middletown.

Eight women are charged with felonious assault: Justice Moore, Kierra Curry, Cheri Jackson, Chantal Helvey, Rian Buchanan, Channel White, Alexis Barge and Kymber Leigh Calhoun. Jerarious White, a male, is also charged with felonious assault.

All nine suspects are not in custody and wanted by police. Warrants have been issued for their arrests.

Galliher claims the ex-girlfriend of her current boyfriend was among the group of suspects. She said the woman invited her to the home as a "set up."

“I think it’s all due to jealousy. I didn’t understand it," Galliher said. “I mean, we were friends. We’ve been friends for a long time. I think they just wanted to be cool."
