A Brooklyn shop owner died in a freak accident Monday when he stuck his head out of his van door while parking and it got crushed between the vehicle and a tree, police sources said.

Xin Xheng Lin, 52, was reversing his Toyota minivan on West 7th Street near Highlawn Avenue at around 9:45 a.m., when his head got wedged between the door frame and a two-foot thick tree, police and co-workers said.

Lin, a Chinese immigrant who owned the Gaung Thai 99 Cents shop, had been moving the van to the opposite side of the block during alternate side parking hours near the store, police sources and coworkers said.

He was rushed to Coney Island Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

Coworkers and customers were distraught over the bizarre accident, they told The Post.

Its tragic. We were all very misty eyed, one regular said.He worked very hard to make that American dream.

A coworker at the shop was choked up over his death, she said.

Im very upset, very upset, said the shop worker, who identified herself as Huang.

He was very very nice, every customer was always taking about how hes a very nice person, she said.

The tree that Lin was crushed between was growing in a section of the sidewalk in the residential area.

It was undamaged after the accident.

The death is still under investigation, police said Monday afternoon.
