A former Parkview high school football coach has pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault.

45-year-old William Hardiman admits to having sex with a student who was 17 at the time.

He entered the plea Thursday in Pulaski County Circuit Court.

Parkview's principal, Dr. Dexter Booth, contacted police with a letter he received in the mail with no return address or name.

The letter stated that the teacher had the relationship with the student during the 2014-2015 school year and that their relationship began when the student was a minor.

Hardiman faces a possible sentence of between six to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000 on the class A felony charge.

He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.

Hardiman resigned in November of 2016 from the Little Rock School District.
