Black Lives Matter representatives from Atlanta are set to meet with Roswell officials on Monday to discuss the arrest of a black woman which left her mouth wired shut.:D

Shanita Maeberry was arrested on November 9 around 10 p.m. when police said officers detected marijuana coming from the open window of the vehicle in which she was sitting.

Police approached the vehicle and found Maeberry in the passenger seat. She and the driver were reportedly seen smoking marijuana and admitted they had done so.

When officers found more pot in the car, they tried to arrest Maeberry and the driver.

During the course of her arrest, police said Maeberry resisted officers. She is reported to have pulled away from officer James Van Alstine, and punching him in the face. Roswell Police said Van Alstine then struck Maeberry in the face to gain control.

"The officers immediately de-escalated their use of force," police said.

Black Lives Matter organizers said their meeting and a protest planned for later Monday night are a result of that hit from Van Alstine. They said Maeberry's mouth had to be wired shut after the incident.

Officers requested an ambulance on the scene and EMTs said Maeberry's injuries were superficial. After Roswell Police tried to transfer her to the Fulton County Jail from the Roswell Detention Center, she continued complaints of mouth pain.

When police finally transferred her to the hospital, doctors determined her jaw was broken.:)
