An emotionally disturbed, homeless woman punched a 9-year-old girl she didnít know in the face as the child waited with fellow schoolchildren at a Manhattan subway station, police said.

The girl was standing near a token booth on the mezzanine level of the Delancey Street F train station Wednesday when Latrice Jasper, 34, punched her in the nose without warning about 11 a.m.

The girlís 40-year-old mother, who was also in the station with the her and other children on a class trip, then grabbed Jasperís shirt, prompting the woman to punch her in the left side of the face.

Other adults subdued Jasper, who lives at a Brooklyn womenís shelter, and held her until police arrived. She was arrested at the station and taken to Bellevue Hospital to be evaluated.

She was charged with two counts of assault with intent to cause physical injury and acting in a manner injurious to a child. She has 31 prior arrests, including one for punching a man in October. The mother and daughter were treated for minor injuries at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.

The group of about 20 students had just entered the station when Latrice Jasper, a bipolar ex-con who sometimes hears voices in her head, went berzerk on the M train platform at the Essex St./Delancey St. station about 11 a.m. Wednesday, sources said. Jasper, 34, punched one of the students, giving her a bloody nose, and slugging the girl’s mother when she intervened, leaving the mom with a bump on the head, according to police sources. Good Samaritans held Jasper down until police arrived and arrested her, sources said.
