Cops arrested the thief who stole an NYPD patrol car that was left parked with the keys in the ignition, police sources said.

Ruben Fernandez, 31, was arrested early Tuesday when the Bronx Warrant Squad dropped by his Upper West Side apartment, the sources said.

Investigators received a tip from a person who lives not far from Fernandez and identified him as the possible culprit.

The patrol car was parked in front of the 50 Precinct station house in Kingsbridge Sunday morning.

Fernandez spotted the keys had been left in the ignition and took the vehicle on a 25-minute joyride before he crashed in University Heights, plowing into four parked cars.

The cop who left the keys in the ignition and a desk sergeant were both disciplined, officials said.

Fernandez has been charged with grand larceny, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
