Police have a suspect in custody and are searching for another following a crash involving a Conyers Police cruiser.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. on August 19 as an officer was trying to pull over a vehicle that was driving without it's headlights on. The vehicle was turning from West Avenue onto the I-20 ramp when the officer attempted to make the stop.

After the officer turned on patrol lights, another vehicle can be seen ramming the police cruiser and allowing the other driver to escape. Both vehicles took off onto I-20 as the police cruiser was disabled.

It was later determined that both vehicles in the ramming had been reported stolen.

Police eventually caught up with the driver who rammed the patrol car. Shcharanskey Cooper was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault on an officer, theft by taking and several traffic-related charges for the ramming incident.

The driver of the initial vehicle is still on the loose.

If you have any information regarding this case, you're asked to call Crimestoppers.
