STOCKTON — The arraignment for a man arrested after a Saturday hit-and-run in Escalon that left an off-duty Stockton police officer dead has been delayed for a second time.

Isidro Urista-Meza was scheduled to appear before Judge Ron Northup in San Joaquin Superior Court in Stockton on Wednesday afternoon. But his attorney, Armando Villapudua, will not be in town until Aug. 31, so his arraignment has been delayed until 8:30 a.m. Aug. 31.

Urista-Meza faces several charges including driving without a license, felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter stemming from a two-vehicle collision that killed Stockton police Officer Justin Kepler.

This is the second time Urista-Meza’s arraignment has been delayed since his arrest. He was originally scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
