ST. LOUIS • A man who was shot in the back Monday night after he punched a man in a wheelchair has died.

Police say Michael Johnson, 39, died at a hospital on Wednesday morning. Johnson lived in the 500 block of Darst Road.

Johnson was shot at about 8 p.m. Monday when he argued with a man on a back porch of a home in the 4400 block of Gibson Avenue.

Police identified the man who shot Johnson as Secoy Anthony Webb, 33.

Webb, who uses a wheelchair, got into a dispute with Johnson over personal matters, police say. Johnson began hitting Webb in the face, police say.

Webb grabbed a gun and fired a shot at Johnson, who was hit in the back.

Police say Webb, of the 5100 block of Enright Avenue, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm. Bail was set at $30,000, cash-only. Webb was being held Friday in the city jail.
