HOUSTON - Charges have been filed against the suspect who lead a Bellaire police officer on a chase that ended with the officer's death.

Dante J. Moore, 27, is charged with murder for his role in the death of Officer Marco Zarate. The 52-year-old cop was killed in a motorcycle crash at 8500 Ferris Tuesday.

Before the chase, Zarate's body cam snapped a photo of Moore after the officer stopped him to question him about a shoplifting case at the Target in Meyerland Plaza. Police say Moore took off and Zarate went after him. That's when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a parked landscaping truck.

After the body cam photo was released, Moore turned himself in with cameras rolling, escorted by activist Quanell X.

Zarate is survived by a wife and three daughters. He had been with the department for seven years.

Authorities are still hoping to talk to Moore’s twin brother who was believed to have been a passenger in the car involved in the chase.
