2 Men Killed, Another Injured In Camden Shooting
March 18, 2012 7:07 PM

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say shootings at a southern New Jersey home have left two Camden men dead and another hospitalized with serious injuries.

Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk says the bodies of 32-year-old Louis Antonio Narvaez-Betancourt and 22-year-old Jose Ariel Paynes Garcia were found inside Narvaez-Betancourt’s home around 11:20 p.m. Saturday. A 28-year-old man who also lived in the home was hurt, but authorities would not say whether he also had been shot.

Further details on the shootings, including a possible motive, were not disclosed Sunday.

The shootings were part of a violent weekend in Camden.

Earlier Saturday night, 31-year-old Bruce Matthews of Camden was found stabbed to death on a city street. Faulk said Matthews had been stabbed “multiple times,” and a motive remains under investigation

Camden Man Admits Fatally Shooting 2 Men During Home Burglary
May 7, 2016 1:12 PM

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey man has admitted killing two men during a burglary that he and his brother committed at a Camden home.

Camden County prosecutors say 22-year-old Camden resident Misael Lopez pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of felony murder in the slayings of 32-year-old Louis Narvaez and 28-year-old Jose Payas Garcia.

The two men were found dead in the kitchen of their Camden home in March 2012. Authorities say both victims had been shot.

Lopez now faces concurrent 30-year prison terms when he’s sentenced June 23. He will have to serve at least 30 years overall before he becomes eligible for parole.

His 36-year-old brother, Alexander, pleaded guilty last month to conspiracy to commit burglary. He’s expected to receive an eight-year prison term when he’s sentenced alongside his brother.

Two New Jersey brothers are heading to prison after admitting to their roles in the shooting deaths of two men during a 2012 burglary.

Camden County prosecutors say 22-year-old Misael Lopez, of Camden, was sentenced on Thursday to a pair of 30-year prison terms that will be served at the same time.

He had pleaded guilty in May to two felony murder counts in the slayings of 32-year-old Louis Narvaez and 28-year-old Jose Payas Garcia.

Both men were found dead in the kitchen of their Camden home in March 2012. They had been shot.

Lopez's 36-year-old brother, Alexander, pleaded guilty in April to conspiracy to commit burglary. He was sentenced on Thursday to eight years in prison.
