The nanny who disappeared with a 3-year-old girl she was supposed to take to school spent most of the day riding on the subway with the child, authorities said Wednesday.

Little Gabriella Russo and her nanny Fatima Alexander, 59, were seen on surveillance video leaving the girl’s Battery Park City apartment building at about 9 a.m. Tuesday.

When Gabriella’s parents realized the child never arrived at her school in Lower Manhattan, they called police who began searching for the pair.

After about 15 anxious hours, the girl’s parents were reunited with her when the two returned around 12:15 a.m.

The nanny was taken into custody for questioning and charged with kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.

She is currently awaiting arraignment.
