Police: Case closed in fatal shooting of store clerk and suspect
5/3/16

PRINCETON An investigation into the shooting of a local clerk that led to the self-inflicted shooting death of a suspect has ended, according to the Princeton Police Department.

During the early morning hours of April 28, the Princeton Police Department was alerted about a shooting at the Little General Store, BP station, on Stafford Drive. A store employee, Susan Daniel, 23, of Princeton was taken to Princeton Community Hospital, but died later that morning. Chief John Howell of the Princeton Police Department said she was married with one child. The robbery occurred approximately 2:30 a.m. A witness, who was outside the station, immediately called police.

About five to 10 minutes after the initial call, police found the suspect, 19-year-old Shakim Saunders of Princeton, in his car at the intersection of South Seventh and Bluefield Avenue. He had died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Howell later said at a press conference that police were convinced the suspect, Saunders, was the same man who had fled from the store. An undisclosed amount of cash had been taken.

Howell said his department saw Facebook postings Saunders had submitted before the shooting. One posting attributed to Saunders read: Going out like rico anybody get in the way getting blasted!!!
